Showstoppers Academy's Instructors have completed a
200 Hour Instructor Training Program or have received a Diploma in Theatre/Musical Theatre/Voice/Dance
Each of our Instructors must have a strong passion for Musical Theatre and sharing that passion with their students.
Miss Ashleigh is the founder and creator of Showstoppers Academy which was established in 2008. She has a love for each of her students and feels honoured to have been a part of so many incredibly talented children's lives. She started Dance when she was 3 and found a love for Musical Theatre at age 9. She has been teaching/directing for 16 years and has loved every minute of it. She is a graduate of Capilano University's Theatre Program with a Diploma in the Arts. In 2017 and 2018 Miss Ashleigh gained Training through the Broadway Teachers Program in New York City. Before she began teaching, Miss Ashleigh's favourite past roles were, Anne in "Anne of Green Gables" and Audrey in "Little Shop of Horrors".
Miss Ashleigh believes There are no small roles, only small actors.
Miss Nicole has been teaching along side Miss Ashleigh for 11 years and has completed the 200 hour Instructor Training Program as well as the Broadway Teachers Training Program in New York City. She is a compassionate teacher and friend to her students. Nicole grew up singing and dancing. Her favourite past roles are, Miss Hannigan in "Annie", Horton in "Seussical the Musical" and Babette in "Beauty and the Beast". Miss Nicole went to post secondary school for Early Childhood Education and she loves sharing her passion for the Arts with her students. Her favourite place to be is Showstoppers.
Miss Sam is going into her 8th year teaching at Showstoppers and couldn’t be more excited for a new season! On top of completing the 200 hour Instructor Training Program she has many years of dance and acting experience and is a Showstoppers alumni. She attended the Broadway Teachers Training Program and Student Summit in both 2017 and 2018. She made her directorial debut with Disney’s The Lion King in 2017 and could not imagine doing anything else with her life. Sam strives to be an inspiring and enthusiastic teacher, and loves to share her passion for the stage with her students. She recently appeared in TIC’s production of Hunchback of Notre Dame and choreographed for Gallery 7’s Pride and Prejudice in 2018.
Miss Ashlyn was involved in Showstoppers Academy for many years, and is thrilled to be returning as member of the teaching team. She has loved performing since a young age and never imagined pursuing anything else. RA graduate from the Musical Theatre Program at Capilano University she is excited to share her knowledge and passion for theatre with young aspiring performers. Some of her credits include Thoroughly Modern Millie (Exit 22), Beauty and the Beast (Theatre Under the Stars), and The Who’s Tommy (Arbutus Studios).
Mr. Nicholas Bradbury is a skilled Acting Coach at various Musical Theatre Academy’s in the Lower Mainland. He is an inspiring teacher with lots of energy. He studied Musical Theatre at Capilano University and has been performing on stage and screen in Vancouver for years. Mr. Nicholas graced the stage as Lefou in “Beauty and the Beast” at Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park for Theatre Under The Stars and performed in Grease the Musical on the Island for a 3 month run. Mr. Nicholas will be reviving his role as Lefou at the Stanley Alliance Theatre this winter. Showstoppers is very exited to have Mr. Nicholas as part of the team!
Miss Ali has been performing dance, acting, theatre and vocals since a very young age. In fact, she is a Showstoppers Alumni having played Harold Hill in “The Music Man” (2013), Mrs. Meers in “Thoroughly Modern Millie” (2012) and Gaston in “Beauty and the Beast” (2011). Miss Ali is a graduate from Capilano University’s Musical Theatre Program and has gone on to perform throughout the Vancouver area both on stage and on screen. She was incredible on stage as Mimi in the hit musical “Rent” and has spent two summer on th eisland performing in Grease and Mamma Mia. Ali believes “Life should be a Musical”. She is the one you see dancing in the aisles of the store like no-one is watching.
Miss Natasha has been a performer since before she can remember. Training in Musical Theatre, Dance, Voice and Competitive Figure Skating as a child. Miss Natasha continued her Musical Theatre and Voice training at Sheridan University in Ontario for 4 years. Miss Natasha now teaches voice and dance throughout the Lower Mainland as well as performing herself. Some of her past performance roles include Athos in “The Three Musketeers”, Tiger Lily in “Peter Pan” and Millie in “Thoroughly Modern Millie”. Miss Natasha is so excited to return to Showstoppers for another season!
Miss Jessica has completed the 200 hour Instructor Training Program and has been a part of Showstoppers Academy for eight years. She has assisted classes for 5 years as well as co-directed "The Little Mermaid" in 2019. Some of her past roles with Showstoppers include Gabriella in High School Musical (2014) and Fiona in Shrek the Musical (2016). Her directing and positive attention to all the students of the StageStars production and YoungStars classes is inspiring. Miss Jessica is excited to begin a new year and share her love for Musical Theatre with her students.
Throughout her past 10 years at Showstoppers Academy, Miss Layla has grown a strong passion for Musical Theatre. The skills she has gained have benefited her in many ways, including boosting confidence and developing her other hobbies. She has successfully completed the 200 hour Instructor Training Program working under Miss Nicole since 2018. She is a Showstoppers Alumini and her other passions include studying music production and playing various instruments. Some of her favourite roles she has played in the past was Nala in The Lion King (2017) and Jasmine in Aladdin (2019). Layla strives to be a role model for her students and is excited to be sharing her passion with others.
Mr. Dawson was a Showstoppers Academy student for 9 years. He has a love and passion for the Arts and impressed everyone around him with his growth and progress as a performer over the last 10 years. He is so excited to work along side Mr. Nicholas with the Acting Out class for the 2nd year. Dawson has a natural gift with children and brightening everyone's day. His positive attitude and genuine care for his teachers, classmates and students is like no other. Dawson has graced the stage in countless shows but his favourite roles he played were, Scar in "The Lion King" (2017) and Bert in "Mary Poppins" (2018). Dawson is taking his Bachelor's of Arts on his path to becoming a High School Teacher and when not in school or teaching you can spot him in many tv shows filmed in Vancouver. .
Miss Jaya has successfully completed the 200 hour Instructor Training Program working under Miss Sam for 3 years and has been a student at Showstoppers Academy for eight years. Some of her past roles include Lily St. Regis in Annie and Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast. Miss Jaya also has a passion for piano and Dance which she has been doing for the past 10 years. This is Miss Jaya’s fourth year teaching and she is very excited to have the chance to work with all her students and help them achieve their musical goals.
Miss Adrianna has been in Showstoppers Academy 5 years and is currently in her third year of Masters. She is very excited to be teaching this year. She is so thrilled to work under Miss Nicole and is successfully working toward the 200 Hour Instructor Training Program. Some of her past roles in Showstoppers performances have been Tinkerbell in "Peter Pan" 2016. Nala in "The Lion King" 2017 and Nelus in "Mary Poppins" 2018. When she is not at Showstoppers she is usually dancing or doing something creative like drawing or crafts. She is looking forward to making new memories with her students and sharing her passion for the arts.
Miss Dara has been a student at Showstoppers Academy for 9 years and started assisting in 2017. She has extensive Dance Training from a young age and looks forward to completing the 200 Hour Instructor Training Program at Showstoppers Academy. Some of her past roles include Wendy in "Peter Pan" (2016) and Mrs. Brill in "Mary Poppins" (2018). She very much enjoys Ballet, Jazz and Tap as well as Voice under the instruction of Miss Natasha. She loves being in the Masters Class and assisting in the younger student's classes.
Miss Ashley started assisting classes in 2017 and fell in love with her interaction with her students and the joy of sharing her passion for Musical Theatre with those who are just as passionate. Miss Ashley is well on her way to completing the 200 Hour Instructor Training Program and has also been a student at Showstoppers Academy for 7 years. Her favourite past role was, Cogsworth in "Beauty and the Beast" (2016). She is so excited to be assisting again this season under the instruction of Miss Sam.
Miss Savannah has been at Showstoppers Academy for 8 years and is in her 2nd season assisting. She is working toward the 200 Hour Instructor Training Program. She has been able to express herself and gain confidence through theatre. She loves being able to do the things she loves such as singing, dance and performing. Miss Savannah is very happy to be a teacher assistant for the second year under the instruction of Miss Sam and hopes to help put on an amazing year end musical with her students. One of her favourite past roles was Deb in Elf the Musical in 2018. She hopes she can share her love and passion for theatre with her students.
Miss Emma has been a student at Showstoppers for as long as she can remember and her passion for performing grows every year. Some of her favourite past roles are, John in "Peter Pan" 2016, Simba in "The Lion King" 2017 and Lumiere in "Beauty and the Beast" 2015. Miss Emma is so happy to spread her joy of Theatre to the younger students who are starting out the same way she did.
Miss Zahra has been with Showstoppers Academy for 8 years. Her favourite past roles are Jane in "Mary Poppins" 2018 and Young Nala in "The Lion King" 2017. Along with theatre Miss Zahra has been dancing for years. She is super excited to teach her students and share her passion with them.
Miss Madysen has been with Showstoppers for 4 years. She started in the Juniors program and is currently in her second season as a Senior. Madysen has been dancing since the age of 3, her love of performing led her to Showstoppers where she has been hooked ever since. Miss Madysen loved her roles as Gertrude McFuzz in ‘Seussical The Musical’ and as a Dynamite in ‘Hairspray’. This is Miss Madysen’s first year as a teacher’s assistant and she is excited to be helping the youngsters at Showstoppers in developing their love for theatre.
