Ashleigh McAuley – Owner / Artistic Director
Ashleigh McAuley is the Owner and Artistic Director at Showstoppers Academy. She believes “there are no small parts, only small actors”; every role is important to the story no matter how big or small. Ashleigh jumped into Musical Theatre at age 9 and never looked back. She holds a Diploma in Theatre Arts from Capilano University. She has been in many community and professional productions, and has directed for various theatre companies in the Lower Mainland. Some of her credits include Erma in “Anything Goes” – Exit 22 Productions, Narrator in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat” – Centrestage Productions, Director of “Seussical the Musical” – Showstoppers Academy and Director of “Annie” – Warren Performing Arts Academy.
Nicole Nicolato – Instructor / Assistant Director
Nicole was first introduced to the world of Musical Theatre at the age of 13 and she never had a thought to do anything else. Some of her past performances include Miss Hannigan in “Annie” (2006), Horton the Elephant in “Seussical” (2008) and Babette in “Beauty and the Beast” (2011). She also has experience behind the scenes – backstage and helping in such areas as props and set making, as well as assistant director and assistant choreographer. She has worked with Miss Ashleigh for the past ten years and couldn’t ask for a better mentor, co-worker or friend. Nicole enjoys instructing children and sharing her love for the Arts with them. She recently received her Diploma from Douglas College in the Associate of Arts Program for Future Teachers.
Samara Judd – Instructor/ Assistant Director
Sam has been a longtime Showstoppers Academy student and has many years of dance and acting experience. She has been instructing and choreographing at Showstoppers for six years. Sam has a passion for Musical Theatre and loves to share that passion with her students. She strives to be a helpful, inspiring and enthusiastic teacher. Her past roles include Cogsworth in “Beauty and the Beast” (2011), Mrs. Meers in “Thoroughly Modern Millie” (2012), Seaweed in “Hairspray” (2015) and Rafiki in “The Lion King” (2017).
Isabelle Maheux – Choreographer
Isabelle is originally from Québec where she studied dance at Cégep de Drummondville and Université du Québec à Montréal. She moved to Vancouver in 1997 to be part of Spirit of a Nation (Canadian Heritage Arts Society). Since in Vancouver, Isabelle has choreographed for Sound Sensation & ShowStoppers (Show Choirs), Gotta Sing Gotta Dance (Musical Theatre Summer Camp), Metro Theatre, Notre-Dame High School, St-Georges High School, Little Flower Academy and many more.
Isabelle spent 5 years at sea entertaining international crowds and teaching Ballroom and Line dancing on Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruises. She also produced her first Line Dance DVD “So you wanna line dance”. She also had the honor to work with David Atkins as Assistant Choreographer on the Opening & Closing Ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Isabelle has been choreographing for Showstoppers Academy for the past 4 years.
Rebecca Paulding – Musical Director / Voice Instructor
Rebecca Paulding holds a Bachelor of Music and Masters in Voice and Opera Performance from the UBC, as well as an ARCT in Piano Performance from RCM Toronto. She is a provincial winner in voice, a medalist with RCM, and a winner of several provincial voice awards. For the past three years, she has been in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she has been a teacher for the Manitoba Conservatory, and a musical theatre instructor and coach for Manitoba Theatre for Young People. Rebecca has returned to her home in the Fraser Valley, where she enjoys teaching voice and piano, and seeks to encourage an appreciation and love for music in students of all ages. Rebecca was the assistant musical director with Secondary Character’s production of Oklahoma, and this past spring, she was the Junior Voice adjudicator for the Kiwanis Fraser Valley music festival.
In addition to teaching classical voice, Musical Theatre, and piano, Rebecca is an active performer. Operatic performances have been with Opera Nuova, Manitoba Opera, UBC Opera and the Little Opera Company of Winnipeg. She has been a soloist with the Vancouver Symphony, as part of their Traditional Christmas Concert Series, with Fraser Valley Philharmonic’s Mostly Mozart Concerts, and most recently with the CSO as part of their Spring Showcase.
Rebecca is excited to return to Showstoppers for her second year.
Jeremy Lowe – Guest Acting Instructor
Jeremy has a strong love and passion for Theatre and studied Theatre at Capilano University. He has appeared on Stages across Vancouver ranging from the Massey Theatre, to Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. Showstoppers Academy had the privilege of having Jeremy star as both the Beast in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (2010) and Trevor Graydon in Thoroughly Modern Millie (2011). Through these roles Jeremy inspired many of our young actors to push themselves, strive for excellence and continue with theatre after secondary school. Showstoppers is grateful to have him as a mentor to their aspiring students.
Mandy Ryan – Acting Instructor
Mandy fell in love with performing when she was in elementary school and continued acting in high school. After graduation, she started her own theatre group and then attended the Stage Acting program at Capilano University. She has been active in the theatre community as an actor in many plays, musicals and films, a Director for over 30 productions, Playwright for over 20 plays, and has taught classes in acting for the stage and screen to hundreds of students throughout the Greater Vancouver area. She is really excited to be a part of the Showstoppers Academy family.
Molly Burgess – Instructor
Molly Burgess has been performing Musical Theatre for 13 years as a student of Miss Ashleigh’s. Her past performing roles in musicals include Gingy in “Shrek” (2016), Tracy Turnblad in “Hairspray” (2015), Marian Paroo in “The Music a Man” (2013) and Timon in “The Lion King” (2017). She enjoys singing, acting and dancing as well as piano and guitar. Molly comes from a talented musical family and has always been passionate about music, performing and entertainment. She enjoys sharing the art of performance with her students. Molly aspires to build a career around the arts. Miss Molly has been instructing at Showstoppers for the past 3 years.
Ashlyn O’Shea – Instructor
Ashlyn was involved in Showstoppers Academy for many years, and is thrilled to be returning as member of the teaching team. She has loved performing since a young age and never imagined pursuing anything else. Recently graduating from the Musical Theatre Program at Capilano University she is excited to share her knowledge and passion for theatre with young aspiring performers. Some of her credits include Thoroughly Modern Millie (Exit 22), Beauty and the Beast (Theatre Under the Stars), and The Who’s Tommy (Arbutus Studios).
Britney Buren – Instructor
Britney is thrilled to be instructing at Showstoppers. She graduated from Capilano University’s Musical Theatre Diploma Program in 2015 and has since performed and directed in the community. Some of her past credits include “The Secret Garden” Exit 22 and “Oliver” Theatre Under The Stars. Britney has trained with Coastal Sound Music Academy and is looking forward to sharing her passion for Voice with her students.
Caitlyn Woollard – Teacher Assistant
Caitlyn has been a student at Showstoppers Academy for six years. When Caitlyn was first introduced to Musical Theatre she fell in love with it. Some of her past roles include Amber Von Tussle from Hairspray (2015) and Grace Farrell from Annie (2014). She loves to share her passion with her students and help them grow to reach their goals.
Sadie-Ann Chung – Teacher Assistant
Sadie has been part of Showstoppers Academy for the last five years, having her passion for Musical Theatre ignited six years ago through the Showstoppers Summer Camp programs (she’s attended three summer camps). In 2016 she starred as Donkey in the hit musical Shrek! She also enjoys dance and has taken ballet, jazz, hip hop and tap over the last 10 years. She is excited to continue to learn and develop her talents as part of the Masters Class and is happy to give back by supporting Showstoppers’ younger actors.
Jessica Allen – Teacher Assistant
Jessica has been a part of Showstoppers Academy for five years and has assisted classes for two years. Some of her past roles with Showstoppers include Gabriella in High School Musical (2014) and Fiona in Shrek the Musical (2016). Jessica is excited to begin a new year and share her love for Musical Theatre with her students.
Jaya Hong – Teacher Assistant
Jaya has been a student at Showstoppers Academy for six years. Some of her past roles include Lily St.Regis in Annie and Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast. Jaya also has a passion for figure skating and piano which she has been doing for the past 9 years. This is Jaya’s first year teaching and she is very excited to have the chance to work with her students and help them achieve their musical goals.
